MARITEAM RACING
Brookes Bell's dinghy sailing races held at the Docklands Sailing Centre.
THE IDEA
Teams from P&I Clubs, Marine Solicitors and Brookes Bell compete in two series of races. It is intended to be at least semi-serious.
THE VENUE
Millwall Dock on the Isle of Dogs under the auspices of the Docklands Sailing and Watersports Centre. The Club House has the benefit of excellent changing and, more importantly, bar facilities.
THE ACCESS
The closest station is Crossharbour (ten to fifteen minutes from Tower Hill or Bank) on the Docklands Light Railway or the venue is easily reached by bus or car.

THE SERIES
The Spring Series is in May-July, alternate weeks over a period of 12 weeks. The Autumn Series is held on the 4 Tuesdays of September, consecutive Tuesdays for four weeks. Sailing commences at about 6.00 p.m. and comprises two races, sometimes a crew's race for beginners and always followed by ale in the Club bar.
THE REWARDS.......apart from the beer afterwards!
Points are awarded depending on finishing position in each race with a cup for the winning team in each series. There is also a trophy for the best helmsman in each series. The prizes are presented at a grand gala barbeque on the last night of each series.
THE BOATS
Racing is in bosuns. Buoyancy jackets are provided, otherwise sailing gear is provided by participants.
THE TEAMS
Teams comprise of two or three people – generally one helm and two crew. They do not need to be the same each time.
THE COST
The cost for a team of 3 is £25 per evening.
RESULTS are published on this website after the races.
