Mariteam Rules
Mariteam Racing - Rules
- Two or three races each night. Spring Series: Usually six alternate Mondays or Tuesdays in May, June and July; Autumn Series: usually four Mondays or Tuesdays in September.
- Teams to comprise one helm and one or two crew. They do not need to be the same for each race.
- Docklands Sailing Centre will provide buoyancy jackets which are compulsory, otherwise sailing gear is to be provided by participants.
- Teams will be allocated boats to ensure overall fairness.
- The Sailing Centre will set the course, dependent on conditions, and supply start and safety boats.
- Place points system will operate as follows:
First place 1 point
Second place 2 points
Third place 3 points and so on….
- Failure to enter a team in a race scores maximum entry for Series plus 3.
Disqualification in a race scores maximum entry for Series plus 2.
Failure to finish the course in a race scores maximum entry for Series plus 1.
- Each team may discard its three worst race scores in the Spring Series and its two worst scores in the Autumn Series.
- A trophy will be awarded to the team with the lowest number of points at the end of the Series. In the event of a tie, "most firsts" will be applied to decide the winner.
- A trophy will be awarded to the leading helmsman with highest total points in the Series based on the following system:
1st place (10 points), 2nd place (8), 3rd place (6), 4th place (4),
5th place (3), 6th place (2), 7th place (1).
- Races to be carried out in accordance with IYRU rules. In the event of a dispute, the decision of the Sailing Centre's representative will be final.
