Career Summary
Abid Gul is a Master Mariner and Senior Dynamic Positioning Officer with over 29 years of continuous maritime service. Holding a Master Unlimited Certificate of Competency, Abid’s foundational experience includes progressing through the navigational officer ranks up to Chief Officer on worldwide trading crude oil tankers and bulk carriers, serving as Master Mariner on a variety of vessel types since 2010.
Background
A significant portion of his career includes serving as Master/SDPO for Ravenscroft Ship Management (2010-2019) commanding DP Vessels in Brazil and the North Sea, and, critically, his tenure at Great Offshore (2007-2009) where he led two (2) major vessel conversions: transforming an Anchor Handling Tug Supply Vessel into a Multipurpose Diving Support Vessel and converting a Heavy Lift Carrier into a 300-person Accommodation Vessel.
From January 2020, Abid served as a Master/SDPO for Greatship Global Offshore Services, managing specialized offshore operations in West Africa and Southeast Asia, before joining Brookes Bell as Managing Master Mariner in 2025.
He is a Nautical Institute certified Navigation Assessor and DNV certified Internal Auditor (ISM-ISPS-MLC) with deep expertise in compliance and regulatory oversight, including FMEA, OVID, and CMID inspections.
