Brookes Bell kick starts 2026 with several key promotions

Brookes Bell is pleased to announce a number of key promotions across our global teams, recognising the expertise, leadership and contribution of colleagues in support of the company’s growth around the world.

The following appointments took effect in January:

Lee Lewtas has been promoted to Director of Engineering, Asia-Pacific. Based in Shanghai, Lee’s extensive experience in the region and knowledge of multiple vessel types means he will continue to strengthen Brookes Bell’s engineering leadership across Asia.

Karley Smith has been promoted to Senior Master Mariner in our Liverpool office. Karley’s depth of experience in casualty investigations and marine advisory work has been instrumental to Brookes Bell and her work will continue to support clients across multiple sectors, including commercial shipping, offshore operations, and the superyacht industry.

Dhaneshwar Nath has been promoted to Senior Marine Engineer in our Shanghai team. Dhaneshwar has delivered strong technical insight across a broad range of investigations, and his expanded role reflects his growing responsibility and expertise. In his new role, he will continue to support owners, underwriters, P&I Clubs and maritime lawyers with all manner of claims and disputes.

Captain Chris Williams has been promoted to Managing Master Mariner. Based in our Liverpool office, Chris plays a vital role in leading complex assignments for our clients in the container sector, supporting them with hands-on operational knowledge and experience that is vital in today’s challenging trading environment.
