Brookes Bell is delighted to have been named SME of the Year at the 2025 Mersey Maritime Industry Awards (MMIA), held at the iconic Liverpool Cathedral. Now in its 11th year, the MMIAs have become one of the most prestigious events in the United Kingdom’s maritime calendar and a leading event to champion the importance of Merseyside’s maritime sector.

Sponsored by Liverpool John Moores University, the award recognises small and medium-sized enterprises that have demonstrated exceptional performance, innovation and contribution to the maritime sector.

Brookes Bell’s recognition as SME of the Year is a significant achievement that reflects its reputation as a trusted, world-leading technical and scientific consultancy, recognised for delivering excellence across the globe.

The award also highlights the company’s ongoing commitment to innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement. It showcases the strength of its people and the importance Brookes Bell places on investing in talent, research and new technologies that continue to move the industry forward.

It is also a reminder of the company’s deep connection to Liverpool, home to its global headquarters, and The Wirral, home to our state-of-the-art laboratory, and underlines our pride in contributing to the region’s growing reputation as a hub for maritime innovation and excellence.

Being named SME of the Year is a fantastic recognition of the hard work and expertise of everyone at Brookes Bell,” said Adam Whittle, Marketing Manager at Brookes Bell. “It’s a proud moment for us as a team, and one that reflects the dedication, collaboration and innovation that runs through everything we do.
