European shipper Samskip has announced a new shortsea container service that will connect Rotterdam and the Port of Blyth in northeast England, enhancing multimodal connections between the UK and key European trade hubs.
The new service introduces several new benefits for Samskip’s UK customers. These include:
According to a statement issued by Samskip, the Port of Blyth was selected as the UK arrival point due to its ‘strategic location, modern infrastructure, and growing importance as a regional logistics hub’.
Commenting on the new route, Scott Montgomery, Samskip Manager Sales & Operations, said:
“Expanding to Blyth supports our mission to be closer to our customers and provide agile, multimodal solutions tailored to their evolving needs. This new service opens up exciting opportunities for regional shippers seeking dependable and environmentally conscious logistics”.
Echoing Montgomery’s comments, Alasdair Kerr, the Commercial Director at Port of Blyth, said:
“We’re delighted to welcome Samskip to the Port of Blyth and to support the launch of this new strategy service which will provide great links into The Netherlands and broader European markets.
Together with our logistics arm, Transped, we’re providing a full suite of value-added services including cross-docking, storage, and export packing, to ensure a seamless and efficient supply chain for our customers”.
In addition to the Rotterdam to Port of Blyth route, Samskip currently offers numerous high frequency services across Europe, Iceland and the Faroe Islands, providing both door-to-door and quay-to-quay connections via shortsea, road, rail and inland waterway routes.
