Brookes Bell goes to the Palma International Boat Show

Arron Jackaman, Senior Inspection Engineer and Patrick Yeoward, Superyacht Consultant have attended the Palma International Boat Show from 3-6 June 2021, meeting with customers and clients.

Arron commented that: “Over the last year, under the COVID restrictions we have all been operating online. We’ve spent a lot of time working, researching and analysing this market refining our services, it was great to finally be able to actually meet and talk face-to-face with the contacts we have made, to explain and demonstrate what we can do.  It was a great atmosphere and very productive”.

The team met with fleet management companies, construction and repair yards as well as service providers like coating specialists at the annual event.  Notable meetings were held with the Astilleros De Mallorca Shipyard the largest repair and refit yard in Palma, and Marlin Marine Services, a repair and refit shipyard and yacht broker at Port Adriano.  In both cases Brookes Bell has entered into talks to provide both non-destructive testing and metallurgical consultancy services to the shipyards in the near future.

Following on from this, the team met with the directors of NautiPaints, a coatings company with a large presence in the Mediterranean market, including yard and workshop facilities around Europe.  The company has since engaged with Brookes Bell to conduct field trials of a new non-destructive tank testing method inspecting corrosion through coatings and would like to work together more collaboratively moving forward.

Arron adds: “The show was busier than anticipated with many industry representatives.  It’s one of the first trade shows of the season, and we’re looking forward to meeting clients at the Monaco Yacht Show and METS Tradeshow later in the year.”
